OMclinic.org is an unembedded, non-commercial organization. Executive director Julie Casper, C. Ac., Dipl. Ac. (NCCAOM) developed OMclinic.org to benefit acupuncture practitioners and students, and help advance Oriental Medicine in North America.
We continue to grow organically, and operate cooperatively. We do not lobby for top-down political reform, there are other regional and national organizations who are working hard in this area. Instead, we influence change from the ground-up, one student, one practitioner, one person seeking health — at a time. Our extensive practitioner directories illustrate the fact that Oriental Medicine physicians have strength in numbers.
It is time to nurture a better public understanding of Oriental Medicine and its proven health benefits. Especially in light of current conditions, and (dismal) statistics:
- Escalating decline in peoples general health — and happiness.
- A co-opted "healthcare" system which benefits the medical industrial complex, not patient wellness.
- Skyrocketing cost of health insurance. A positive side-effect of the health insurance debacle is a growing interest in treatment options that are actually effective — and affordable. Oriental Medicine promotes comprehensive wellness and has helped millions of people over thousands of years with safe, natural therapies.
- Unfortunately, a (UC Boulder) study finds only 4% use acupuncture (U.S.)
- OM practitioner business failure rate, 50% - 80% — (we can do better)
